The beginning of a journey

Well, I have finally done it. I have taken that next huge step towards becoming a teacher librarian. Ever since I was 10 years old and had some very inspiring teachers, I knew where I wanted to go. Our school librarian was amazing. She made the library a welcoming and exciting place. In the days before reading groups and literature circles, she provided these things for those of us who loved books. I still remember reading 'Bridge To Terabithia' with her in our reading group. She always managed to choose books that would inspire us, move us or get us thinking. This is something I hope to pass on to my students.

Starting this course has been something I have been wanting to do for the past 5 years. I have been a classroom teacher for the past 10 years, and whilst I enjoy it, I knew there was something else I wanted to do. But, as life has a habit of doing, time got away from me. First I got married (couldn't study, too busy planning a wedding), then I got pregnant (can't study, I have a new baby), then I had my second child (still can't study, have another new baby). Finally, at the end of last year , I decided to bite the bullet. I realised that there would not be an ideal time to begin this journey...I just had to jump in and do it. So...I did and here I am, writing my first ever entry into a blog. I am already learning!
